Up to forty primary schools operate in scattered villages of the Sepik river basin. Teachers, trained by PIM, use a curriculum developed by the mission and teach in Melanesian Pidgin and English. Adult literacy classes also occur, however most students are under 10 years old.

300 local churches of different denominations use Sunday school materials published by PIM to instruct thousands of students. Teachers appreciate the twenty-one books of Bible lessons which cover three age groups.

Christian literature by PIM in both English and Melanesian includes, Bible studies for pastors and church leaders, a health treatment guide for village medical workers, a book for grade school students to teach the basic Christian doctrines, plus Sunday School books, and also all the curriculum used in the PIM schools.

Those who memorize a certain number of verses receive a copy of the Bible in Melanesian Pidgin or English. Thousands of Bibles have been awarded to young and old in this manner.
